Randy Bachman & Guests: Raiders Of The Lost Guitar | 4th July 2022

Randy Bachman, legendary Canadian guitarist and founding member of The Guess Who, had his guitar stolen in a hotel in Toronto in 1976. Used to compose rock hits such as American Woman, the 1957 Gretsch recently resurfaced in Japan, after a fan recognized the guitar in the hands of a Japanese artist on YouTube.

Guitarist Takeshi, born after the guitar was stolen, bought it in a second-hand store in Tokyo, without a clue about its past. When Randy Bachman contacted him to offer to exchange it for a similar Gretsch guitar, the Japanese musician accepted with honor and pride to return the instrument to its former owner.

Randy Bachman has fond memories of Japan: “Every time I’ve gone to Japan it has been an incredible experience with a wonderful country, its people, culture and music fans. First with Bachman-Turner Overdrive live at Budokan in the mid 70’s, then with Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band in the mid 90’s…”

The Canadian rock legend is coming back to Japan to reunite with his lost guitar, and play a unique show at Bauhaus, the rock’n’roll hall of fame in Tokyo, to celebrate this reunion. Randy Bachman will perform his greatest hits, on stage with guests Tal (his son) and Koko (his daughter-in-law).
